{late friday musings & hello}

hello-header2
ny-eye-poetry1

. . . hello! . . . the week has very much gotten away, as you can imagine [where does the time go?], but as the philosophy here is always better late than never, shall still share a few last and lovely things before the weekend, even as most have already dashed off for much-anticipated after-office cocktails, but in the event there are a few moments here & there, stop by if you like, especially for the beautiful diy had mentioned earlier in the week . . .

à bientôt‎ / see you soon, —roséline xo

{hope you've had a beautiful weekend + a few lovely links}

notes-from-the-weekend-hed2
stylemepretty-bicycling

. . . was just remarking how the weekend positively flew by, as if a dream, one that was filled with pastel-coloured pastries and chocolat fleur de sel biscuits [every delectable bite all but gone now], and visits with the past, a wardrobe of lace-lined cardigans, striped gold sequined tops and coral cashmere sweaters, and now on this sun-drenched early-march monday, fast approaching the wrapping up stages of a few projects, and with the near arrival of spring comes many other wonderful things . . .

hope you've had a beautiful weekend, and that your week is off to a perfect start, —roséline xo

. . . and having been forever in love with love, and forever ever in love, it's no wonder that valentine's day is very nearly a national holiday around here, and perhaps the very best thing about it falling on a tuesday, is the chance to celebrate again, for there are dinner reservations also for the weekend, and for tonight, there will be champagne and other perfectly wonderful things, and however you celebrate, or not at all, wishing you so much love—the kind that overflows on everything and fills the air . . .

happy, happy valentine's day! hope it's sweet & sexy and positively filled with beautiful things, —roséline xo

{take me away № 14 | the magic of winter gardens}

take-me-away-hed (2)
winter-garden5

For many, it is the dreamthe dream to travel abroad and to walk the very grounds in which were walked upon by great literary artists long ago—their words replaying in our minds and lives today. The dream to breath in the scent of the famously fragrant roses, lovingly kept and carefully maintained . . .

two-lattes

. . . to take tea as was traditionally planned and created, to touch upon the stones that were laid so many years ago and to gaze up to the thatch roof lines of centuries gone by.

winter-garden4

The heart of England lies within the very threads of its culture—the language of customs, of beauty, of traditions, of arts. Indeed, the dream does not lie in sights alone, but in scents, tastes, sounds, and feelings of the heart itself—a secret that whispers about, and if we listen, we might just catch on.

winter-garden2

And just when most life is asleep for the duration of this winter season, we might see a whole new angle to the respected art of one of the most integral parts of England: English gardens. And in truth, the lines and forms of such spectacular gardens might be most appreciated in their simplicity, draped in alabaster frost.

champagne-airplane

. . . and so, today we ask you to join us as we set along on foot, imagining a walk in and amongst some of the greatest gardens in the world there ever were . . .

{a new month & happy december}

happy-december

je-crois

. . . quite stunning, actually, how we have arrived at december so quickly, and in such a beautiful whirl of hours and days, flying at breathtaking speeds, only to arrive at the end, the very last month of an extraordinary year, and soon there will be the making of resolutions and plans for a new year, but for now, immensely looking forward to twinkling crystal & mimosas at festive brunches, holiday soirées and elegant dinners by candle & fairy light, to sequined dresses and upswept hair, and most of all, to a little time spent with those we love . . .

happy december! wishing you days filled with the utter magic of the holiday season, roséline xo

{take me away № 05 | the travel file}

take-me-away-hed
sarah-post-5-3

Perhaps the single most important of details before you depart for your trip, [besides your packing list!, of course], is taking care of the things you treasure most of all: your home and the loved ones in it, and the details of your life.

sarah-post-5-1

Many travel for business and/or vacation without giving much thought to possibility that something might happen to them while away, and though it is never favorable to think upon, it is important to take extra measures to ensure everything is in order, and so, today’s {take me away} column discusses some of the important details one must take care of beforehand, as well as a few other important things to take along on the voyage . . .

sarah-post-5-2

T H E · T R A V E L · I N F O R M A T I O N · L I S T

Each destination [as there could be multiple destinations planned for one trip] would have its own set of details [repeated for each destination] that should include the following information:

destination: be specific, i.e. London, UK

method of travel:
car rental company & contact information, train or flight details, airline and contact information, etc.

destination accommodations:
where you are staying, be it as a guest with family or friends, hotel, rental home, etc. along with name and address, website and/or telephone number

sarah-post-5-4

departure date:
when you expect to arrive at the given destination

date of return: day, month, year

method of travel:
which flight, with details; or car, train, etc. with details, if different from above

expected arrival time:
by estimation [vital to include]

It is important to leave your emergency contact information with whomever is staying at your home while you are away -- be it a neighbor, family member, or a trusted friend. Feel free to use this list as a starting point for your own. You may wish to customize some of the notations, especially if you have numerous pets, children at home, and/or additional people living within your home.

. . . always and eternally in love with summer, and while others are gliding gracefully down the mountain side, am normally the one sitting prettily by the fire, wrapped in cashmere and sipping brandy or hot chocolate with marshmallows, waiting for summer's return, and dreaming of warmer climates to see out the long wintry months ahead; of course, winter's chilly days would be no match if spent gazing out the enormous picture windows at the spectacular views outside of aerin lauder's aspen ski chalet among the silver birches, with its reclaimed cypress boards and wire-brushed oak, white walls and bed linens, cosy reading corners and floods and floods of light . . .

{p.s.} also interesting : the interior designer for the chalet was daniel romualdez, who also designed the tory burch boutique, on madison, featured here a few weeks ago -- interesting to compare the two vastly different styles

. . . often, in past weeks, thoughts have been drifting to the misty waters and dusky mountains of a time spent away, [not long ago], in the adirondacks, at what must certainly be one of the most romantic places in the world, lake placid lodge, where, despite having arrived very late from the city, we [p & i] were welcomed with a crackling fire and a glass of champagne . . .

. . . always a little wistful at this time of year, as each passing day drenched in warm, golden rays draws us a little closer to summer's inevitable end . . . and so, this weekend was spend in the sunlight, in deep conversations and in candlelight, and in the space where daydreams and reality intermingle . . . and there are a million amazing projects and exciting new ventures and sometimes far too easy to get caught up in the excitement, and for this reason and from this moment, shall stop for a moment to catch a breath and remember to hold on to the last golden rays for as long as possible. . .

happy monday! hope you had a summery, romantic weekend, and that it was beautiful where you are, roséline xo
