Hong Kong, a magnificent city of brilliant lights, culture, beauty, magnetic energy, and possibility . . . Part of the People's Republic of China, this labyrinth is situated on China's south coast, encompassed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea. Hong Kong is renowned for its incredible harbour, expansive skyline and its easy accessibility. It is also known for its glamour, as a shopping destination, as well as for the ever-growing sights to see [both new and historical], things to do, exciting views, and emerging design.
Though considered younger than Shanghai, there are over 5,000 years of Chinese tradition in Hong Kong, set in beautiful contrast and communion with the western world. As a city, it is divided into four main areas : Kowloon, Hong Kong Island, the New Territories, and the Outlying Islands [there are 236 in total]. Kowloon, and the New Territories are both located on a peninsula of the Chinese mainland, on the northern side of Victoria Harbour. While Hong Kong Island is on the southern side of the harbour facing Kowloon, the city itself is centred around the world-renowned and breathtaking Victoria Harbour.
To offset the ever-growing population of nearly seven million people , the city has taken shape vertically, making for a striking vision of fascination and wonder. And with a multitude of things to see and experience, places to visit, and so much to take in, a visit to Hong Kong is most certainly a must . . .

. . . and the weather was so beautiful today, it's becoming clear that it will be increasingly difficult to concentrate on work [or any matter indoors] in the days and weeks to come, and with all this brightness and buds on trees and newly unfurled petals in devastating shades of lavender and dusky violet, there comes also, the feverish need to clean and sort and organise anew, and here, when all the feverishness is over, there will be glass cases for storage & display, for everything, from towels and bottles of perfume in the powder room, folded rows and hangers of clothes in the bedroom, and most of all, for favourite pairs of shoes . . .

. . . and you may have noticed, around wednesday, last week, things slowed down, just a little, and all for very good reason, for that day, mid-week, a parcel arrived in the post that changed everything, and threw the week beautifully askew with much extravagant excitement and a sparkling glass [or two] to celebrate; this week, of course, will be [somewhat] back to normal, with new articles and lovely things to share, along with a few exciting announcements, intermingled, of course, the lingering excitement of the past week—even still—alongside spring in the air . . .
happy monday! hope you had an utterly beautiful mid-march weekend, and that your week is off to a perfect start, —roséline xo

. . . positively adore bright colours in the springtime, but nearly always on others, for here, it's lacy whites and billowy pastels—and yet, at a time of year when the brightness of longer days beautifully envelopes everything, it's nearly impossible not to be drawn to shades of tangerine and cerise, and daffodil silk, and most of all, fuchsia, so elegantly chic when paired with white, that it may be time to fall headfirst . . .

As you glide along in the sky, gazing out the window, just before landing, there is a pivotal moment of being lost, lost in the spell of Ireland; the spell of the patchwork of lush and picturesque land—a land that measures from warm, golden yellow hues to indescribably rich shades of jade, malachite, and emerald.
But beyond the land, the wondrous Irish landscape is surrounded by almost architectural, asperous cliffs, offset by soft beaches, kissed by sparkling waters.
The third-largest island in Europe, Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland, and Northern Ireland, a part of the United Kingdom. The lush vegetation of this 'Emerald Isle', as it is poetically known, is attributed to the mild but changeable oceanic climate; the land is made up of low-lying mountains surrounding a central plain and several rivers running inland . . .

. . . and while on the topic of ethereal spring whites, lately [& perhaps always], have been searching for perfect white shoulder bag or tote, and whether woven, quilted, lacy or sleek, there is something about white leather that is both romantic and modern, a little luxurious, and always refined . . .

. . . this weekend was one of chignons & pearls and romantic sunday walks along the water; pastel-coloured petals falling on golden coffee tables and afternoons soaked in sunlight; there were cut-crystal glasses of sparkling wine for two, and that certain feeling of feverish restlessness that comes just before the arrival of spring, and also before the final realisation of dreams . . .
hope you had a stunning march weekend, and that it's beautiful where you are, —roséline xo

. . . hello! . . . the week has very much gotten away, as you can imagine [where does the time go?], but as the philosophy here is always better late than never, shall still share a few last and lovely things before the weekend, even as most have already dashed off for much-anticipated after-office cocktails, but in the event there are a few moments here & there, stop by if you like, especially for the beautiful diy had mentioned earlier in the week . . .
à bientôt / see you soon, —roséline xo

WHAT TO PACK FOR PARIS | march twenty-twelve
concept & words by sarah klassen, editing & image compilation by rosélineLast week, we shared a few favourite places in the city of lights & love, for those with dreams and plans to summer in the Jardin du Luxembourg and the tea rooms of Ladurée, and this week, in answer to all of the requests that have been pouring in over the past few months, thought it might be lovely to include a few tips and suggestions for what to take on such an adventure, and ideas for wonderful little additions to your wardrobe, such as a new scarf you might pick up in a charming shop in Montmartre or a cocktail ring from a vintage shop on a pretty side street, or perhaps your first scent from Hermès.

The memories of your trip will surely follow you home, when your scarf is trailing behind you, as you walk along the beach, reminding you of the most romantic evening along the Seine, or while you are enjoying an evening out with your love, the scent of your new favorite perfume bringing back memories of the most beautiful picnic that the two of you shared in the gardens of Versailles.
Your journey is meant to be fun and full of exploration, discovery and culture—and very much a part of the culture of Paris is the fashion and style of Parisians, with their clever mix of elegance, sexiness and ease. My Mother once taught me, the basics are wonderful and necessary, but you must give them your own twist—your personal touch, be it a chic belt, or a re-interpreted piece of jewelry given to you by your Grandmother.

And while planning for the trip, there are a number of things to consider, from simple comforts that make all of the difference while flying, to unforeseen things that may occur while you are out & about exploring this magical city. And so, today we explore these things, to help insure that you have a most pleasant and most memorable trip . . .CONTINUE ---------------------------------->
