. . . and after spending a blissfully relaxing weekend, [mostly] offline, did have a few moments to catch a quick glimpse of new things in the reader, between brunches and traipsing about at the shops and in the winter sunshine, and became engrossed in the dramatic transformation of this entryway in london . . .

. . . if you have been reading for a while, you will know about a longstanding love affair with vaulted, soaring and perfectly ornate ceilings, intricate crown moulding and wood panelled walls, and so, fell completely for the design of the most recent apple store, paris opéra, in the 9e arrondissement; known as the 'most un-apple apple store', the glass-and-steel of trademark elements like the staircase, have fallen away to wood and wrought iron, creating a perfect juxtaposition of old & new, traditional & modern . . .

. . . while spring may be a time for paring down, autumn is for layering -- for sweaters and long scarves and at home, wool blankets and velvet drapes, and a need to revel in beautiful details, and perfectly ornate bits of gold -- along the edges exotic woods and around the graceful curves of spiral staircases . . .

{travel inspiration: italy}

. . . happened upon these dreamily moody photographs of italy last week, and was reminded of all the photos from past trips still left to sort through -- some still in cameras, others on memory cards and in folders -- trips to the beach, and castles with ponds and swans and perfectly manicured gardens, the last trip to paris, and this weekend's whirlwind few days away . . .

. . . have been known to be drawn to all manner of glittery things -- sequins and mirrors and, most certainly, chandeliers -- but with all of this seventies sophistication inspiring the streets and runways, it is nearly impossible to resist a little disco . . .
