. . . this weekend was one of celebrations, and there were fireplaces alight with a million flickering candles and glassess of champagne on carerra, late dinner reservations, and later cocktails & dessert; cashmere cardigans with crystal buttons and velvet brocade at sunday brunch; there were vintage shops and flower markets and delectable eggs benedict, narcissi and bouquet upon intoxicating bouquet of roses in shades of coral and sun-drenched yellow and pale, pale cerise . . .

. . . often prefer less structured handbags and clutches, as they are a little easier to fit more things into, but have very much fallen for these acrylic clutches, and especially for the ones made of gold & silver confetti and white pearlescent geo -- wouldn't they be the perfect finish to a new year's outfit?

. . . despite all the holiday daydreaming, making it sometimes a little difficult to get things done, and between the festive plans and mid-week brunch dates, there are still a million and one things do, and so, a glittery manicure and a bite of a cupcake wrapped in gold, and it's out the door, perfectly tailored in elegant cashmere and leather accents, and of course, an always chic, yet practical doctor's bag in one hand, and a coffee in the other . . .

. . . there is gold and glitter everywhere lately, on ankle boots, and fingernails, and even above fluttery lashes, and ever since gold-leafing the coffee table a few summers ago, can not seem to stop enveloping everything in bits of gold, and so, was thrilled to come across this very fun and insanely easy idea . . .

course glitter // mod podge // fabric glue // rhinestones

mix mod podge & glitter, adding one part course glitter to two parts mod podge in a small bowl

brush on to strap and let dry

apply a second layer and let dry

you may wish to apply a third layer [optional]

apply rhinestones to the ends of the strap, with fabric or crazy glue

. . . among all the many beautiful things to look forward to this holiday season, as if the candlelight and soirées, the sequined evening gowns and glasses of rosé were not enough -- now, [and perhaps most exciting of all], insanely glamorous & glittery eyes that will light up those festive nights . . .

{take me away № 04 | vintage & antique luggage}

There is something significantly special about vintage and antique luggage pieces. Unlike the compact pieces that are created out of convenience and necessity today: suitable for planes, trains, ships, and automobile travel—the type of luggage needed from years past is quite different.



For instance, baby strollers today are easy to clean and maintain, can carry a number of children at time, and can fold into a fraction of their size, not unlike an origami piece; whereas in the past, more scalable prams were standard, designed with large, more industrial strength metal parts, and were produced with fine materials—some even included beautiful paintings and special storage compartments, and were often decorative and treasured for many, many years.



The same is with luggage; today, we seek quite different conveniences and scales, and yet can appreciate and enjoy the beauty of pieces from a bygone era.



Proficiently and arduously, “constructed by hand from metal, timber, leather and brass, these trunks were highly sought after and favoured by royal families and international high society alike.”



Traveling in style was considered as important as where one would travel. It’s lovely to imagine the sorts of journeys these pieces went on—exotic trips to Africa, trains through Europe, new homes and lands, discovered . . .

{valentine's how-to: sweet nothings garland}

. . . very much smitten with this impossibly sweet glitter garland, perfect for valentine's day, birthdays, or perhaps even, a random sunny wednesday in mid-winter . . .



{you will need:}
a printer, a sheet of white paper, scissors, glue, glitter, a glue gun, some baker’s twine, embroidery thread or satin ribbon, if you like

{one}
print out the words “i love you” in all caps in a font of your choice (here, arial font, black, size 100 pt)

{two}
cut out letters

{three}
apply a generous amount of glue to the front of each letter and sprinkle with glitter (here, red glitter, but pink or gold would also be lovely)



{four}
organize letters glitter side down and backwards, then lay out the length of string or ribbon that you would like



{five}
place a small dot of hot glue at the top of the first letter, and sink the string in; repeat for each letter, ensuring that they are the correct distance apart



{six}
hang somewhere lovely, in a doorway or an archway, perhaps, and expect to be kissed . . .
