{how to : gold glitter camera strap}

. . . there is gold and glitter everywhere lately, on ankle boots, and fingernails, and even above fluttery lashes, and ever since gold-leafing the coffee table a few summers ago, can not seem to stop enveloping everything in bits of gold, and so, was thrilled to come across this very fun and insanely easy idea . . .

{you will need:}
course glitter // mod podge // fabric glue // rhinestones

S T E P O N E
mix mod podge & glitter, adding one part course glitter to two parts mod podge in a small bowl

S T E P T W O
brush on to strap and let dry

S T E P T H R E E
apply a second layer and let dry

S T E P F O U R
you may wish to apply a third layer [optional]

S T E P F I V E
apply rhinestones to the ends of the strap, with fabric or crazy glue

{how-to: gilded party animal cupcake toppers}

. . . quite possibly the most simply chic & ingeniously fun idea ever: a menagerie of plastic animals and candle holders, a drill and a little gold spray paint, and before you know it, it's party time . . .







{you will need:}

plastic animals
plastic candle holders
drill with 1/8″ drill bit
pliers
gold spray paint

{steps:}

1. use any type of plastic animal you can find, keeping in mind the size of the cake or cupcake you are planning to top; ones with a flat back work best

2. with the pliers, hold the animal steady, and drill a hole straight down, being careful not to come out the other side; the hole only has to be deep enough for the candle holder to fit

3. spray paint the animals in a few light coats, rotating them to cover all sides; note: gold/metallic spray paint will work fine without primer, but if you are using regular spray paint for colour variations, be certain to use a plastic spray paint or a primer for plastic, and always test one first

4. spray the candle holders to match

5. put on your dancing shoes & pop open the champagne

{valentine's how-to: sweet nothings garland}

. . . very much smitten with this impossibly sweet glitter garland, perfect for valentine's day, birthdays, or perhaps even, a random sunny wednesday in mid-winter . . .



{you will need:}
a printer, a sheet of white paper, scissors, glue, glitter, a glue gun, some baker’s twine, embroidery thread or satin ribbon, if you like

{one}
print out the words “i love you” in all caps in a font of your choice (here, arial font, black, size 100 pt)

{two}
cut out letters

{three}
apply a generous amount of glue to the front of each letter and sprinkle with glitter (here, red glitter, but pink or gold would also be lovely)



{four}
organize letters glitter side down and backwards, then lay out the length of string or ribbon that you would like



{five}
place a small dot of hot glue at the top of the first letter, and sink the string in; repeat for each letter, ensuring that they are the correct distance apart



{six}
hang somewhere lovely, in a doorway or an archway, perhaps, and expect to be kissed . . .
